	Above - an aerial photograph, surveyed between 19/09/02 - 30/05/03, of the area. Bartle Road and environs lies just south of the railway line as it diverges from the A40 Westway.




	Above - taken from Bartle Road, a view of the ornamental garden which lies between the buildings containing 7 - 9 and 10 - 11 Bartle Road. The front door to 10 Rillington Place would have been at the centre rear of the garden. See the plan and aerial photograph in the Conclusion section.



	Above - a view of the entrance to Bartle Road from St Mark’s Road. To the right-hand side can be seen the position of the railway line (Hammersmith & City) as it runs west from Ladbroke Grove station. To the left is the end-of-terrace building containing nos. 61 - 65 St Mark’s Road which now occupies the location where Rillington Place began.



	Above - the tranquil and well-kept setting of St Andrew’s Square and, facing west, the building to the rear which now occupies much of the plot upon which the old house at 10 Rillington Place once stood.



		Above - a view along the pathway on the north side of St Andrew’s Square - the area of path at lower level beyond the gate and steps, in between the flank wall of the building 22 - 29 St Andrew’s Square and the rear of the ornamental garden between buildings 7 - 9 and 10 - 11 Bartle Road, coincides with the location of Christie’s front room.

		Above - the left-hand picture shows the location of the building at 136A Lancaster Road which once housed the San Remo café where Christie would engage people in conversation. This café is also the place where Basil Thorley, Beryl’s younger brother, met Timothy Evans on the morning after, as he (Thorley) believed, Evans had murdered baby Geraldine.The right-hand picture shows the premises at 110A Lancaster Road, at the junction with Ladbroke Grove, the ground floor of which then contained David Griffin’s Refreshment Room where Christie is believed to have first encountered Ruth Fuerst - his first-known victim.


	Above - (Left) the Kensington Park pub on the corner of Lancaster Road and Ladbroke Grove, then called the Kensington Park Hotel (“KPH”), which Evans (and probably Christie also) frequented. (Right) The Elgin pub, then known as the Elgin Hotel, on the corner of Ladbroke Grove with Westbourne Park Road which was another favoured haunt of Evans.

Above - (Left) 41 Oxford Gardens where Ruth Fuerst lived in a room during 1943. In the mid 1930s the Christies had lived but a few doors away at no. 23 before moving, by mid 1937, to the top two rooms at 10 Rillington Place. (Right) the building at 196 Lancaster Road (now part of Lancaster House, 14-16 St Mark’s Road) which was once the premises of Lancaster Food Products for whom Timothy Evans worked as a delivery driver. Christie is also believed to have bought bread daily from here.




	Above left - the gated entrance to Ruston Mews, a private road in the ownership, since 1990, of a company formed by its residents, but long the subject of mythology that still leads visitors to believe they are seeing the old Rillington Place. Ruston Mews lies to the east of St Mark’s Road and has no connection with the events which occurred in Rillington Place. On the left of the picture can be seen the main building shape of Andrews Garage. Left - a picture taken at the time of Christie’s crimes. The view is eastwards along Rillington Place and the outline of Andrews Garage can be seen to the far side of St Mark’s Road. The location of no. 10 Rillington Place is to the right of where the photographer stood.


		Left - the bodies of Beryl and baby Geraldine were buried in the same coffin in a pauper’s grave at the Gunnersbury Cemetery, London W3. The now faded inscription reads: BERYL SUSANNA EVANS DIED 8.11.1949 AGED 20. GERALDINE EVANS DIED 10.11.1949 AGED 14 MONTHS. (The first name, George Henry Potter, was simply a contemporary death and unconnected with the family. Also, by her untimely death, Geraldine Evans had, in fact, only just attained 13 months of age).


	Above - (Left) the entrance to Gunnersbury Cemetery in West London and (Right) the area in which Beryl and Geraldine were laid to rest in early December 1949. Two of Christie’s last three victims, Kathleen Maloney and Rita Nelson also lie in this cemetery but in unmarked graves.


	Below - the last resting place of Timothy Evans, a modest but now tidy grave in the consecrated ground of St Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Leytonstone.


	Left - the entrance to St Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Leytonstone, Essex. Extending to some 43 acres (17.4 hectares), it contains almost 200,000 burials.


	Left - a selection of the coal-hole covers as produced by the James Bartle iron & brass foundry which (together with other items of street furniture) can still be widely seen around Kensington today.
